sofa.com is an omnichannel furniture retailer targeting a premium segment of customers in sofa & bed markets.

My 6 years at sofa.com were my formative years in Ecommerce - I joined as a Digital Marketing Manager when Digital Marketing was in its infancy at sofa.com, and developed it as we went along, learning all aspects of Digital and Ecommerce 'on the job', by trial and error and by living and breathing it every day.

I knew the founders as I had worked with them previously in a completely different business, doing something completely different. it was a food business, and in 10 years with them I moved around the company a bit, ending up as the operations manager in charge of a few sites. if you’re keeping tabs, this is where my experience leading teams of different sizes and backgrounds starts.

in 2013, i was invited to join sofa’s marketing team (I always had a passion for marketing and advertising) to help out with some maternity leave cover. Digital marketing was at its infancy in the company, which was amazing as I had the opportunity to develop myself and the role as I went along.

at sofa.com I learned the ins and outs of paid media, the pitfalls of SEO (they had been slapped with a google penalty just before I joined), the rudiments of email marketing and, more notably, how to manage and deliver successive (and successful) redesigns and replatforms of their website.
